“Que la fête fut belle avec Chanel!
Chanel Parfums organized a dinner party in Paris in November 2013 for their top 100
managers in Europe. I secured Paul Turner and Rob Harris of Groovesonix for this exclusive
event.
The party was taking place at “L’Electric”, a new hip place in Paris offering a stunning
panoramic view to the City of Lights and its Eiffel Tower.
Chanel’s request was to play a happy music for trendy and beautiful thirty year olds who
wanted to have fun on some funk standards.
This British Band naturally came to my mind but I had to make sure they would be able to
make it on that day (November 20th). As these musicians were not on a tour with Jamiroquai,
I was able to book them for the Chanel event.
Right from the start, Paul and Rob confirmed they were reliable and serious (on time, flexible,
mindful of the client’s expectations).
Working with such professionals is extremely reassuring for the sponsor of the party
especially when this sponsor is Chanel, a prestigious brand name that cannot afford
imperfection.
Rob Harris’s first guitar riffs turned the crowd on and, rapidly, all you could see were happy
faces and smiles that lasted all night long. After only one song “L’Electric” had become a real
dance floor and the atmosphere was incredible.
Picking the right songs was essential to the success of the event and Paul and Rob had made
every effort to satisfy the sponsor’s desires.
Everyone was very excited to have members of Jamiroquai playing for them and the band
were also very happy to spend some time with the public after the show and to take pictures
and sign albums.
Chanel later confirmed the satisfaction we had experienced during the event and requested the
band again for future events.
The band is clearly a step up from other bands who are on a similar circuit.
